UPDATE: Man taken to hospital after incident on A3M

A MAN has been taken to hospital with a neck injury following a incident on the A3M this evening.

Firefighters were called to the incident by Junction 4 at Purbrook Way around 5.50pm to find a car damaged by the central reservation barrier.

The male driver, who sustained a minor neck injury, was rescued from the vehicle by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment and taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham by an ambulance, according to a spokesperson from Cosham fire station.

The incident led to long delays on the A3M with one lane shut both northbound and southbound.

Two appliances were sent to the scene from Cosham and one appliance and a specialist vehicle was sent from Havant fire station.
