UPDATE: Person dies following an incident near Petersfield train station

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 5.30pm yesterday evening.

A spokesperson for South Central Ambulance Service has confirmed that the person died at the scene.

The spokesperson said: ‘We were called to an incident at Petersfield train station at 5.34pm this evening.

‘An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a hazard area response vehicle and an ambulance officer attended.

‘The person has been deceased at the scene.’

Train lines between Havant and Haslemere were closed whilst emergency services attended.

South West Trains on their website said they had reports that a person had been hit by a train.

A spokesperson said: ‘We have received reports that a person has been hit by a train between Haslemere and Havant.’

Train lines have now reopened.
