National Rail has warned passengers to expect delays until about 2pm after the incident near Bedhampton.

South West and Southern trains are both affected, and trains are currently unable to run between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour, with delays reported on the line between Havant and Cosham.

It is thought the tree fell near the disused Farlington halt railway station.

Specialist trees surgeons are expected to be on site at about 12.45pm.

More to follow.
