Warning after fire crews are called to rescue at Farlington Marshes

FIREFIGHTERS have issued a warning to people walking in Farlington Marshes after they received an emergency call.

A crew from Cosham was called to the nature site after reports a man had become trapped in the mud on Thursday evening

With the tide coming in, there were fears the male could have drowned or succumbed to hypothermia.

However, when crews arrived, they found the man had managed to escape the mud. They gave him first aid to keep him warm.

Officers are now urging people not to risk venturing into the marsh during the bank holiday. A spokesman said: '˜The mud can look stable but quite quickly you can find yourself getting stuck.'
