Year-long roadworks on A27 gets started

WORK to improve capacity on the A27 in Fareham has begun.

Rob Humby, executive member for transport at Hampshire County Council, said: ‘This is the start of the main works along The Avenue designed to increase capacity at key junctions to help traffic flow better at busy times.

‘The scheme includes widening the A27, providing a new shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians between Fareham College and the station, constructing a new bus layby and improving access to the train station.’

The works are scheduled to take just over a year.

A drop-in session will take place on Thursday between 11am and 7pm at Fareham train station where residents will be able to see the emerging design proposals for the train station.
