TRAIN services are running again as normal this morning after yesterday’s flooding brought parts of the network to a standstill.

As previously reported, trains were cancelled between Eastleigh and Fareham because of heavy rain in Botley.

Trains from Portsmouth to London Waterloo via Basingstoke were diverted via St Denys in Southampton.

Train officials said speed restrictions are still in place but they shouldn’t affect journey times.

A spokeswoman for the South West Trains-Network Rail Alliance, said: ‘Train services have now been restored in all of the areas that were affected by disruption yesterday and services are running virtually as normal this morning. There are speed restrictions in place in a small number of areas that were affected by flooding but we don’t expect that to have a significant impact on train services. A full timetable is running on all lines.

‘We would like to apologise again to our customers for the disruption to their services yesterday and thank them for their patience throughout the day.
