SHOPPING for children can be boring and tiring.

But this summer, Gunwharf Quays has arranged for a number of activities to keep the kids entertained.

The Portsmouth complex is hosting its Hello Summer campaign which sees lots of free activities for youngsters.

From sand pits to trampolines, there is something for the whole family to enjoy, including extra fun for the summer holidays.

Children can enjoy seeing a balloon modeller, have their hair braided and get their very own caricature picture.

They can also enjoy a very special fish and chips treat from Jamie’s Italian.

Centre director Ian Hart said: ‘We know it can be challenging to keep the kids amused over the summer holidays, so we wanted to help parents out by providing free entertainment in a safe place for children to play.

‘We invite families to come and make a day of it with our fantastic range of outlet stores and restaurants as well as excellent leisure facilities including Vue Cinema and Bowlplex.’

Children of all ages can also have a go at steering their very own miniature model ship.

Located along the canal side, the electric powered boats can easily be controlled and are suitable for both adults and children.

The Hello Summer campaign runs every day from 10am-4pm.

A CLASSIC board game is being brought to life at a Gosport centre.

As part of a summer activity, the Gosport Discovery Centre is having a themed day based on the board game Cluedo.

Kids will be introduced to the characters who will be handing them clues to help solve puzzles.

Places are still available for the Tuesday afternoon session which starts at 1.30pm.

Tickets are £2.50 each and to book a place, call (023) 9252 3463.

Also in Gosport on Tuesday, at Fort Brockhurst, youngsters can decorate bags, go fishing, play Wii and lots more.
