Closures will remain in place until 6am tomorrow, having started at 9pm on Friday.

Work is being carried out to repair Cosham Bridge – the road over the main Portsmouth to London railway line.

The closure will be followed by narrow lanes running over the bridge with a 50mph speed restriction in both directions for up to 10 weeks and is planned to be complete in December.

Work on the bypass – built in 1968 – will include replacing the bridge joints and waterproofing material, resurfacing the eastbound and westbound carriageways and replacing the central reservation over the bridge.
