Collision involving two cars closes Eastern Road in Portsmouth

A COLLISION involving two cars has caused the closure of the northbound carriageway of Eastern Road this evening.

The incidence has caused the closure of the northbound carriageway from Anchorage Road to the Farlington roundabout.

Police and ambulance crews attended the collision – involving a male driver and a female driver – at 5:20pm.

A witness, who was walking his dog along the road at the time of the incident, said it caused ‘quite a bit’ of congestion along the road.

He said: ‘It looked like a big smash. I don’t know how it could have happened, but they must have been going at a fair speed.

‘It caused quite a bit of traffic.’

The witness said that it appeared neither driver had suffered serious injuries.

He said: ‘There was no one stuck in the cars, and the man was standing on the side of the road talking to police.’
