It’s official – speed limit is reduced on Hayling Island

A NEW speed limit has come into force on a busy route – but not all drivers seem to be aware.

The 40mph stretch along the Havant Road from New Cut to Mill Rythe on Hayling Island has been reduced to 30mph.

Islander Colin Telford said the new 30mph signage was not easy to see and some drivers were being tailgated because other motorists were not aware of the new limit.

Councillor Sean Woodward is in charge of transport in Hampshire. He said: ‘The new lower speed limit of 30mph on the A3023 Havant Road came into effect on 21 September.’

He said the aim was to increase safety.
