Three vehicles were involved in a crash on the M27 this morning near to roadworks.

There were delays on the westbound route between junction 7 at Hedge End and junction 5 at Eastleigh after the incident.

The third lane was closed while work to recover the vehicles from the road was carried out.

Highways England tweeted: ‘#M27 Westbound between J7 #HedgeEnd & J5 #Stoneham - we have a lane 3 closure following a traffic collision in the roadworks.’

There were approximately 10 minutes of delays at the moment for drivers.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: ‘We received a report just before 9am of a collision involving three vehicles on the M27 westbound between Hedge End and Eastleigh.

‘No injuries were reported.’

Roadworks are being carried out on the M27 as part of work to convert the road into a smart motorway between Junction 4 and 11.

Average speed cameras are in use to make sure drivers keep to the 50mph speed limit.
