Van sent on to its side in Hayling Island car crash

TWO drivers and their passengers had to be rescued by emergency services when the car and van they were in collided.

The van was sent on to its side from the impact, forcing the driver to kick through the windscreen in a bid to escape.

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to the crash scene in Havant Road, Hayling Island, at around 11.45pm last night.

A Ford Transit van, with a male driver and female passenger, had collided with a Ford Mondeo, that was being driven by a man with children passengers.

Police closed one of the lanes while they dealt with the wreckage.

Paramedics gave medical assistance on the scene, but nobody was taken to hospital.

The scene was cleared by 12.45am this morning.
