A27 delays: ‘Severe’ traffic in both directions after lorry ‘loses its load’

DRIVERS are facing 'severe’ delays on the A27 after a lorry lost its load.

Eastbound lanes three and four are blocked between the A2030 at Eastern Road and the A3M at Farlington because of the incident.

Meanwhile westbound, lane three has been closed along the same stretch of road – causing delays back to the A3023 at the Langstone Roundabout, in Havant

Bus operator Stagecoach has said at least three of its services in the Portsmouth area are being affected – 21, 23 and 700 – and has described congestion as ‘severe’.

It also tweeted: ‘#Havant ser 700 due to a lorry losing its load on the A27 ser 700 will be diverting via Farlington/Drayton, and Cosham to Hilsea in both directions buses will not serve Bulbeck Road or Solent Road bus stop.’ 

Hampshire traffic service Romanse has said the M27 is also being affected.

Hampshire roads police said: ‘We're dealing with a collision on the A27 near the Eastern Road junction, #Portsmouth.

‘We will update in due course with further details including road closures, but please be mindful of this if you're travelling in either direction as this will likely impact rush hour traffic.’ 

Romanse has said the eastbound delay is approximately 50 minutes from J11 of the A27 at Fareham – while westbound drivers are having to wait 30 minutes from the A259 in Emsworth.
