A SERIES of accidents caused delays on roads across Hampshire this morning.
A person was trapped inside a vehicle following a four car accident on the A27.
Three cars and one light goods vehicles collided while travelling west bound on the busy trunk road between the the Eastern Road and Bedhampton.
One lane was blocked because of the crash which happened at 6.23am.
Hampshire Constabulary say a vehicle had broken down in the road. One person was then reported to have attempted to cross the road and was hit by a car.
A further three vehicles then collided with the broken down car.
One person is reported to have suffered leg injuries, while another who was trapped inside the car following the pile up was being treated for chest pains.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue service sent three fire crews – two from Cosham and one from Portchester – along with the special equipment unit to the scene.
Watch manager Kevin Lloyd-Spencer, of Cosham red watch, said: ‘We assisted in the extraction of one person from a vehicle.
‘We did a side removal of a car, and freed the person.’
The incident is caused delays from Chichester all the way to Portsmouth and also south bound on A3(M).
Police report a white Ford van, blue Skoda, black Ford Mondeo and a red Mercedes were involved.
The accident was cleared by 11am and normal traffic conditions were expected from 12.30pm.
Also on the A32 Gosport an overturned vehicle on Forton Road at the junction with Albert Street blocked traffic in both directions.
Two cars collided with one another at 7.40am.
At just after 9am police had cleared the road and the overturned car was taken away by recovery workers.
On the M27 east bound at junction 9 Segensworth, there was a five vehicle accident at 7.42am.
A blue Ford Mondeo, blue Audi A4, black Renault Scenic, grey Volkswagen Golf and a white Ford Escort van, had all collided.
No one was injured and the emergency services have moved all the vehicles to the hard shoulder.
In a separate accident on the A3 northbound an accident near Queen Elizabeth Country Park blocked a lane and causing delays of around 35 minutes from A3(M) J3. Police say 11 vehicles were involved. The road reopened at 10.45am.
