A FEMALE driver has been rushed to hospital by air ambulance following a road traffic collision in Wickham.

The driver was cut free from her Vauxhall Astra in Titchfield Lane and taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance following a collision with a Peugeot car.

The driver of the other vehicle involved was not thought to be injured.

Firefighters from Wickham and Fareham fire stations were called to the scene at around 12.30pm to free the woman, who was ‘in and out of consciousness’.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said the air ambulance was dispatched after a call at 12.06pm, along with road assistance.

Hampshire Constabulary said the driver was initially said to be in a ‘potentially serious’ condition, but not life threatening.

A diversion was put in place while emergency services were on site.
