Railway firm says it will not ‘rest on laurels’ when it comes to cleanliness

Southampton Airport returned to normal today as the cloud of volcanic ash from Iceland moved out of British airspace.

Spokeswoman Naomi Fisher said: ‘Southampton Airport is operating as normal today.

‘We continue to monitor the volcanic ash cloud situation with our airlines, Air Traffic Control, CAA and the Met Office, but the cloud has currently moved away from the UK.

‘Passengers who have specific flight enquiries are asked to contact their airline.

‘All the latest information will be displayed on our website and on Twitter (SOU_Airport).’
