Brittany Ferries has cancelled its high speed ferries to France today due to the severe weather.

The two crossings scheduled from Portsmouth to Cherbourg have been axed, but all other services are operating as normal.

The move follows regulations which state that when waves reach a height of three meters or more the high speed crossings must not go ahead.

A spokesman for the company said it hopes to have all services operating as usual by tomorrow.
