A CAR destroyed in a crash was on display today to show people the devastation drink-driving can have.
The wreckage was at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth as part of Hampshire police’s Christmas drink-drive campaign Operation Holly.
Officers, fire service staff and the city council’s road safety team were on hand to discuss the drink-drive limit and how long you need to leave it before you get back behind the wheel
PC Mark Fruin from the Fratton Roads Policing unit said: ‘Being able to talk about real examples and show people the damage brings the message home. This is what we as the emergency services, both police and the fire service, deal with and yet these collisions could be prevented.
‘If you suspect that someone is drink-driving, especially if it’s your friend or a loved one, let us know. By doing so, you could help save their life.’
Anyone who suspects someone of drink-driving or driving while drug impaired should text police on 80999 or call 999.
