SUNDAY parking charges are set to be introduced at city centre car parks in Chichester.

The ruling cabinet at Chichester District Council voted to introduce charges on Sundays as part of a wider review of parking in the area.

The tariff would be £1 for four hours and £2 for more than four hours.

The cabinet, however, did not support a proposal to introduce evening charges in Chichester city centre car parks.

The cabinet also approved, in principle, a scheme to introduce pay on exit at the Avenue de Chartres car park.

A meeting of the full council will now decide whether to give the final go-ahead to the changes. The changes would come into effect from April if approved.
