A CYCLIST has sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car.

A man riding on a path alongside Newgate Lane, Fareham, hit a low lying branch yesterday at 7pm.

He lost control of his push bike and swerved into the road – where he was in collision with a yellow Renault Clio.

Emergency services were called and the patient was air lifted to Southampton General Hospital.

The road was temporarily closed and no one else was injured.
