RAIL passengers faced delays yesterday after a car crashed into a barrier at a level crossing.
The vehicle was travelling past Bosham train station, in West Sussex, when it hit the barrier at 10.30am.
A Southern Railway train coming out of the station at the time then ran over the barrier, which had fallen onto the track.
No-one suffered any injuries and the train was not damaged.
Engineers from Southern Railway replaced the barrier shortly afterwards, but delays were in place as trains went over the crossing.
There were cancellations and delays of up to 30 minutes to trains travelling between Chichester and Havant.
A spokesman for Network Rail said: ‘Engineers went to the site and the barrier has been replaced.
‘Trains were running but they were cautioned over the level crossing while repairs were carried out, which led to some delays.’
