COMMUTERS are facing further congestion on the roads in the aftermath of a major fire on the A27.

The lorry blaze on the A27 flyover at Eastern Road yesterday means one eastbound lane remains closed.

Highways Agency workers repaired the surface and replaced the barrier on the stretch of road in work that went through the night into this morning.

Contractors are now due to repair the flyover parapet that was damaged in the blaze.

It means additional lanes could be closed so workers can fix the parapet safely.

There is currently a 10 minute delay between the M27 and A2030 junctions.

Delays are due to be cleared up by around 10pm, according to the Highways Agency.
