POLICE have thanked members of the public who stopped to help drivers injured in a crash.

It happened at the junction of Sefter Road, and Hook Lane, in Bognor, at 3pm on Tuesday and the roads were closed for three hours.

The accident was between a silver Volkswagen Caddy and a black Volkswagen Golf.

The driver of the Caddy, a 57-year-old man from Southampton, remains in a critical condition.

Inspector Paul Wood said: ‘I would like to thank the members of the public that stopped to administer first aid to the drivers of both vehicles.

‘I would also like to thank the local community for their patience, whilst the roads were closed and the collision scene was examined.’

The driver of the Golf, a 54-year-old woman from Bognor, suffered a slight injury.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened to contact them.
