A 91-year-old woman escaped with minor injuries after her car crashed into a lamppost.

Police were called out to the crash, which happened at the junction of Stoke Road and Alver Road in Gosport, at 5.25pm yesterday.

Officers stayed there for an hour and 25 minutes while an investigation was carried out.

The motorist, who was driving a blue Rover 216, was treated at the scene by a team of medics.

The road was not closed off but traffic was diverted while emergency services blocked the way.

A spokesman from Hampshire Constabulary’s control room said: ‘The driver sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.’
