A DRIVER was injured after his car was involved in a collision with a van in Gosport today.

The vehicles collided at the junction of Heritage Way and Grove Road shortly after 1.50pm.

The male driver of the Vauxhall Meriva car was treated for minor injuries and shock, while the driver of the white Vauxhall Movano van is understood to be unhurt.

The car hit a metal fence, a nearby resident said.

The man, who asked not to be named, said: ‘The car veered off and smashed into a metal fence.

‘I was on the way home on the bus and the bus had to get diverted.’

Police briefly closed the immediate area to traffic.

Police are waiting for an oil spill to be cleaned up, a Hampshire police spokesman said.
