A DRIVER has been killed in a motorway crash in Hampshire.
The M3 currently has a lane closed while cars are removed from the crash scene between junctions 8 and 9 for Micheldever, and drivers across the region have been warned to avoid the area.
The accident happened on the northbound carriageway.
At about 3.40pm a black Peugeot 208 and a red Ford Fiesta were involved in a collision. The driver of the Peugeot, a man from Basingstoke, died. The two people in the Ford Fiesta were treated by ambulance crews, but police said they were not seriously injured.
One of the two lanes between junction 8 and 9 remains closed at this time while police investigate the collision.
A police spokesman said: ‘This lane closure will remain in place for some time and although traffic is flowing we would urge drivers to consider other routes this evening.’
