RAILINGS removed from next to a roundabout before a car hit a neighbouring home will be replaced in the next few weeks.

A car hit the front of the house in Portland Street, Fareham last Thursday after losing control on the Quay Street roundabout.

The railings had been taken to allow works on the road as part of the £2m overhaul of the roundabout.

Councillor Sean Woodward, leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: ‘They weren’t crash barriers there before, they were pedestrian barriers.

‘The guard rails will be put back by November 21, in line with the completion of the rest of the roundabout.’
