FERRY services faced significant delays after an engine failure.

The St Faith car ferry, operated by Wightlink, broke down 20 minutes after leaving Portsmouth on its way to Fishbourne, on the Isle of Wight on Saturday morning.

Services were disrupted after the decision was made to return the car ferry to Portsmouth, assisted by a tug, after it suffered technical difficulties with its engine.

All the vehicles were discharged at Portsmouth Gunwharf and carried to the Isle of Wight on a later sailing.
