Flybe has promised passengers a refund after their Hampshire-bound plane failed to start, leaving them grounded for over 11 hours.

The 8.45am service from Newcastle to Southampton airport did not take off until 8.10pm because of the problem.

Flybe says the snag last Monday was down to a technical fault in the aircraft and that a replacement plane had to be used for the flight.
