THE victim of a fatal motorbike accident has been named by police.

Alan Hellyer, 55, died after his motorcycle collided with a Vauxhall Astra on the A3 near the Queen Elizabeth Country Park.

The collision happened at 8.10pm, Friday, September 9, and closed the southbound carriageway for around six hours.

Mr Hellyer, of Wakefords Way, Havant, suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Astra driver, a 22-year-old woman from Havant, and passenger, a 31-year-old man from Waterlooville were uninjured.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. She was bailed until December pending further enquiries.
