CHANGES to car parking in Fareham will see long stay and short stay rebranded to inner and outer.

Fareham Borough Council will rename its car parks from Monday, April 1 in a bid to support local businesses by making parking options simpler.

The plans will see no increase in charges across the car parks.

Two car parks – Malthouse Lane and Trinity Street – will become cheaper as they change from short stay to the new outer category.

Renaming the car parks as inner and outer will reflect how convenient it is to get to the town centre from them.

Executive member for strategic planning Cllr Keith Evans said: ‘This will benefit the town centre as a whole.’
