A FIVE car accident on the motorway has caused rush-hour tailbacks this morning.
The vehicles collided with each other and the central reservation of the westbound M27 close to junction 12 at Portsmouth at about 9am.
Police closed one of the lanes to enable the emergency services to deal with the incident safely.
One man received head injuries, but they were not believed to be serious.
As a result of the accident, traffic was queued up the M275 out of Portsmouth and along the A27 back to Bedhampton.
The road was expected to be cleared by about 11am.
