MILLIONS of pounds are being spent improving 121 traffic bottlenecks, including a junction on the M27.

The road improvement programme, worth £317m, will cut congestion, increase safety and improve journey times as well as supporting the creation of 300,000 jobs and 144,000 homes.

Work on junction 3 of the M27, at the M271, is due to start soon and will see the westbound exit slip road widened, providing four lanes on all four carriageway sections and new traffic signals.

So far, 39 sites have been completed with 80 due to finish within seven months.
