A MAN has been bailed after a road accident in which a 79-year-old cyclist suffered serious injuries.

The accident happened on Wednesday at 6.50pm in Privett Road, Gosport, near the junction with The Chase. The pensioner was taken to the Neurological Intensive Care unit of Southampton General Hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.

A 31-year-old man was arrested yesterday and this morning has been bailed until January.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are still appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 and ask for Sergeant Andy Lynch, quoting Operation Clouded.
