THE date has been set for next year’s Seawork International exhibition, aimed at commercial marine firms.

It will take place at the ABP Port of Southampton between May 22 and 24.

A host of exhibitors have already signed up to exhibit at the show, which attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world every year.

Portsmouth’s Raymarine will be there, as will Segensworth firm Saab Seaeye.

Hayling Island’s Aluminium Boat Building Company are among the 200 firms to have signed up following this year’s event.

The exhibition began 15 years ago, and is put on by Fareham firm Mercator Media.

Its managing director Andrew Webster said: ‘We are very pleased with the progress since the exhibition started.

‘In 1998 we had just over 200 exhibitors and a small number of vessels moored alongside.

‘In 2012, our 15th year, we’re planning to exceed 600 exhibitors and 60 vessels.’

The event features an innovations showcase, with the new products featured going into the innovation awards, presented at the De Vere Grand Harbour hotel.
