A MOTORCYCLIST died in a crash with a lorry today on the main route between Gosport and Fareham.
The collision happened at 8.08am near the Hoeford Inn, in Gosport Road, and closed the A32 in both directions.
A spokeswoman for Hampshire Constabulary has said long delays are expected and warned drivers to avoid the areas.
Two crews from the South Coast Ambulance Service, as well as a team of medics from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, in a car, travelled to the scene in a bid to save the man.
However, a police official said: ‘Despite receiving treatment at the scene from paramedics, sadly the male motorcyclist died having suffered serious injuries.
‘The road is currently closed and will be for some time as we investigate the exact circumstances of this incident.
‘We would urge motorists to avoid the area if possible and we would like to thank members of the public for their patience as we deal with this investigation.
The crash has already caused chaos for commuters heading west along the M27 towards Fareham, Gosport and Southampton.
Drivers have already reported being stuck in long queues as traffic backs up, with one woman describing seeing a number of police and emergency vehicles at the scene.
