A MOTORCYCLIST had to be taken to hospital last night after being involved in an accident with a car.

The motorbike collided with the car as the car pulled out of the Esso garage on Kingston Road in North End at about 7pm.

A crew from Southsea fire station was nearby at the time and were quickly on the scene.

Firefighters helped members of the public who had stopped to give first aid and made sure the scene was safe.

An ambulance arrived shortly after and the male rider was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital with a suspected broken leg.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The occupants of the car were not injured.
