BUS users will soon have a new service linking Portsmouth, Fareham, Gosport and Southampton.

The new service, run by First Hampshire and Dorset, will make journeys between Southampton and Gosport, service 4, Southampton and Fareham, service 4A, and Southampton and Portsmouth, service X4, starting on Sunday, April 22.

Marc Reddy, regional director for First, said: ‘We know that customers would like to see better, faster and more reliable connections between these areas and to address this we have created this new service.

‘The development of this service is one in a raft of changes being made to our network in Hampshire.

‘At the same time we are also about to launch, with Hampshire County Council, the brand new Eclipse Bus Rapid Transit scheme in Gosport and Fareham which, from April 22, will see stylish new buses running between Gosport and Fareham on the newly completed busway.’

‘These improvements to the local public transport network are significant and are part of a wider plan to encourage more and more people to switch from car to bus for some, if not all, local journeys.’
