A MAN is fighting for life in hospital after being struck by a car on the A27.

The 58-year-old man was taken to the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital after the incident on the A27 eastbound from the Portfield roundabout at Chichester.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.25pm on Friday where the pedestrian, from Rustington, West Sussex, was lying in the road with serious head injuries.

The driver of the VW, a 23-year-old woman from West Sussex, was uninjured.
