Man suffers ‘life-threatening’ injuries after car crash

A MOTORCYCLIST who died in a fatal accident after the motorbike he was riding was in collision with a van has been named.

Gavin Kwabena Wallis was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on the A272 near West Meon yesterday.

Mr Wallis, 33, was riding a white BMW motorcycle which collided with a recovery vehicle at 2.30pm.

The driver of the Mercedes recovery truck, a 40-year-old man from Midhurst, was not injured in the accident.

Police officers closed the road between West Meon Hut and Privet for six hours while accident investigators examined the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to it, to call Sgt Wayne Voller of Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Tamtam.
