A CITY councillor has described the moment his car was involved in a collision with an ambulance.

Tory culture, leisure and sport spokesman Jim Fleming was returning home from Port Solent’s cinema on Sunday evening when the dramatic accident took place on Northarbour Road near the Marriott hotel.

He said: ‘It was the most scary incident I have ever been involved in. Everything happened so fast, I don’t remember getting out of the car but I know I was treated by the paramedics from the ambulance. It wasn’t until I was on my way to hospital I really realised what had happened. It was very surreal.’

Cllr Fleming was taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham, with cuts and bruises.

No one else was injured in the crash.
