THE first cruise ship of the year to visit Portsmouth docked at the port.

The Athena, operated by Classic International Cruises, left Freemantle in Australia on March 6.

It has visited some exotic locations including Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Mediterranean ports and Lisbon en-route to its final destination of Portsmouth International Port.

The 250 passengers on board Athena were the first cruise liner passengers to visit the port’s new terminal, part of a £16.5m expansion and refurbishment plan at the port.
