A RAILWAY line that has been closed after flooding caused landslips is due to open again this weekend.

The track at Botley was left unsupported and trains unable to run between Eastleigh and Fareham on the route via Botley and Hedge End because of the bad weather conditions earlier in the year.

South West Trains says the line will open again on Saturday.

However, the first services over the route on Saturday morning may be replaced by road transport.

Buses will be on standby to provide this service should it be required, the company has said.

The main landslip site spanned an 80-metre section of embankment where the railway is built up above the level of the land. The slip happened on February 3.

Trains between Portsmouth and Southampton faced delays while work was carried out because of congestion caused by the diverted services.
