RAILWAY union activists will hold a demonstration over jobs and safety next week.
The demonstration by RMT Wessex is part of a campaign against the government’s endorsement of the McNulty Rail Review which the government says could save up to £1bn a year by 2019.
However the unions say it would mean guards taken off trains, ticket offices closed and railway safety compromised.
It will take place at Portsmouth and Southsea railway station next Wednesday, from 5.30pm, and will be followed by a public meeting at Portsmouth Central Library.
The public meeting will be hosted by the Portsmouth Trades Council and the RMT Wessex Regional Council.
