INSHORE rescuers were called after a man walked into the sea during a spat with police.

The 30-year-old allegedly became ‘aggressive’ with Fareham and Gosport officers before stripping off at Lee-on-the-Solent beach last night at about 10.22pm.

He walked into the sea, before Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (Gafirs) and the Hillhead coastguard were called to search for him.

However, they issued a stop message at 10.51pm – with the man being reported ‘safe’ at his home address.
