ROAD closures will take place on Northern Road in Cosham while work is carried out on a pedestrian crossing.
The closures will be in place from 9pm to 6am from next Monday until August 5.
It is to allow anti-skid surfacing to be installed on the crossing north of Northern Road bridge. Traffic is being diverted via Southampton Road and Western Road.
During the closures, no buses will go through Northern Road or the Cosham Health Centre stops.
Alternative bus stops for southbound routes are in Cosham High Street and northbound passengers should use Hilsea Lido or Southampton Road stops.
Portsmouth City Council’s project manager, Ashley Chaplin, said: ‘The work includes several improvements in the immediate area and pedestrian crossings are part of this.
‘Anti-skid surfacing will greatly increase the safety of people using the crossing and we’re grateful for motorists’ patience while we apply it.’
Northern Road was closed to general traffic during the demolition of the east side of the bridge but it reopened nearly two weeks early.
The bridge is now open to all traffic but drivers are still warned to expect delays .
