HAMPSHIRE County Council’s scheme to repair damaged roads has won an award.

Operation Restore won the 2011 ICE (Institution of Civil Engineers South East) Engineering Excellence award for a major project.

But the council is now moving on with its maintenance schedule, named Operation Resilience, which has already included work on roads in North Boarhunt and Southwick and will this month include Leesland and Purbrook.

Councillor Mel Kendal, in charge of transport matters at the council, said: ‘Operation Resilience is a significant investment in the future of Hampshire’s roads.

‘I’m pleased to see good progress being made, on schedule and on budget.’
