AN 11-year-old girl was hit by a car at a junction notorious for accidents when she was on her way to school this morning.
The accident took place near the junction of Havant Road and Farlington Avenue in Drayton, shortly after 8.35am.
A Hampshire Police spokesman said the girl suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Queen Alexandra Hospital.
As reported, Drayton resident Simon Thornton (pictured) has been running a campaign to have a pedestrian crossing installed at the junction because he feared it was a blackspot for accidents.
A father himself, Mr Thornton said children were particularly at risk at the junction, which is near Solent Infant School and Solent Junior School.
Earlier this month he handed in a petition with around 600 signatures to Portsmouth City Council calling for a crossing.
