A COACH driver has been suspended after a grandmother from Gosport snapped him using a mobile phone while at the wheel.

Dawn Taylor took her family on holiday to Blackpool travelling with coach company Shearings over the bank holiday weekend.

On the way home, Dawn said the coach driver was overtaking on the M6 whilst using his phone.

‘Coming back along the M6 about 45 minutes into the journey the coach driver was using a mobile phone in his left hand while overtaking and driving along the motorway,’ she said.

‘I took photos of him.

‘Nobody on the coach could believe it.

‘I was scared and worried. He wasn’t polite to us.

‘He wasn’t the most approachable driver.

‘I couldn’t really see the sense in talking to the driver because he probably would have got abusive.’

Shearings said it takes all complaints very seriously and that disciplinary procedures are now ongoing.

A Shearings spokesperson said: ‘We have shared Mrs Taylor’s very serious allegations with the driver’s manager and the driver in question has been suspended.’
