MOTORISTS have been warned to drive carefully through a busy junction after its traffic lights system broke down.
The lights at the intersection of Southampton Road and Allaway Avenue in Wymering have been out of action since early this morning.
Portsmouth City Council’s traffic and network manager Simon Brownlie said the failure was due to a power outage at Scottish and Southern Energy.
Mr Brownlie said there was signage in place to warn drivers of the problem and asked them to be careful when driving through the junction.
He said: ‘Following a Scottish and Southern Energy power failure, traffic lights have been affected on Southampton Road and Allaway Avenue.
‘Until power is restored we are advising motorists through signage that the lights are out of action and to proceed with caution.’
